Volunteers needed for SMO 'Adopt-a-Family'

Single Mother's Outreach is in full swing with its "Adopt-a-Family" campaign for the 2009 holiday season.

There are more than 50 families to serve with more being added daily and SMO is putting out a call for volunteers to help.

Right now, several areas need volunteers:
* Record-keeper/application processor (must be good with Excel and Outlook e-mail and very organized)

* Callers to find interested businesses to participate in their holiday gift card collection (SMO supplies a holiday box for the collection with instructions)

* Volunteers to drop off/collect holiday boxes

* Office logistics coordinator (this person will set things up in the office to keep gifts being dropped off organized)

Santa's helpers are needed the week of 12/7 for the following:
* Receiving gifts and putting them in the correct area

* Callers to families to pick up gifts

* Distribute gifts to families

* Record keeper to mark calls/pick ups

* Photographer to take pictures - both when boxes are picked up from companies and when families pick up their gifts.

There will be an informational meeting on Monday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Single Mothers Outreach office for those interested in volunteering.

Be sure to let them know if you plan to attend. If you can't make the meeting, but would still like to help, call the office at (661) 288-0117.
