A 14-year old boy was struck by a motorist Monday afternoon while riding his bike near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Sandy Drive in Canyon Country.

According to Officer Robert Tomayo of the California Highway Patrol, the boy was on the sidewalk but then suddenly veered out into the street in front of an oncoming pickup truck, which was not able to stop in time to avoid hitting him.

The boy reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and was transported by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for treatment.
