The city of Santa Clarita recently launched a five-question survey to help residents determine their eligibility for its Residential and Property Rehabilitation grant program.

The short "Are You Eligible?" survey, available at santa-clarita.com/housing, allows prospective applicants to determine grant eligibility before completing a longer, more in-depth questionnaire.

The city's Residential and Property Rehabilitation Grant Program provides grant funding to assist eligible low and moderate income residents make necessary repairs to their homes and properties. The grants are designed to address municipal code violations, as well as keep homes safe and habitable for residents who meet specific income requirements based on the number of persons in the household.

"The city's Residential and Property Rehabilitation Grant Program is available for single family homes, mobile homes and condos inside city limits," Mayor Frank Ferry said. "Because the grant application process requires household size and income documentation information, which can be time-consuming to gather, the city created a five-question precursory ‘Are You Eligible' survey to help residents determine their eligibility before starting the formal application process."

The city's Residential and Property Rehabilitation Grant Program can provide up to $5,000 in needed home repairs and up to $1,000 in repairs to areas outside the home, like walls, gates, and detached garage.

Applicants must own the home for which they are requesting grant funding and earn an annual household income at or below 80 percent of the median household income for Los Angeles County.
