A Canyon Country woman has pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of child abuse in a deal with prosecutors and was sentenced to less than a year in prison and three years of probation, officials said.

Clarrissa Dix, 48, had her charge reduced from a felony count to a misdemeanor count of child abuse when she pleaded no contest on Oct. 27, said deputy alternate public defender Anthony Rayburn.

Dix, also known as Shaune Tracey Foster, was sentenced in San Fernando Superior Court to 270 days in jail with three years of unsupervised probation, Rayburn said.

Two days later, a man she lived with pleaded not guilty to molestation charges on the same child who lived with the pair.

Gary Eugene Kelly, 53, of Canyon Country pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of lewd acts on a child and one felony count of continuous sexual abuse, prosecutors said.

Kelly is scheduled to return to the San Fernando courthouse on Nov. 24 for a preliminary hearing setting.
