Cameron Smyth is only kind to a few

I think it's great that Cameron Smyth has been named the Humane Society's "California Legislator of the Year" ("Assemblyman Cameron Smyth recognized," Nov. 1) for introducing legislation that would have given people tax breaks for adopting and spaying poor animals, but how about the poor kids without health care, the massive cuts to our schools and the elderly and disabled who are having to endure big cuts to their SSI and now have no dental or eye care?

In all of these cases he voted against funding these services. He can be kind to animals and give the middle/upper classes tax breaks for rescuing shelter animals but he's still a hard-hearted Hannah when it comes to those really in need.
