CHP ramping up enforcement this weekend

In light of the holiday weekend, the California Highway Patrol is ramping up its enforcement, officials announced Friday.

A maximum enforcement period started Friday at 6 p.m. and is in effect until Monday at midnight, according to a Friday morning news release.

"No matter how long or short the road trip, always wear a seatbelt," CHP Capt. Steve Bernard said in the statement. "In can make the difference between life and death in a crash."
