The Hart girls tennis team closed out the regular season by defeating Golden Valley 13-5 Thursday at Hart High School.

Top singles player Anne Susdorf led the way for the Indians (9-8, 5-5) with victories of 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 in her three sets.

Hart swept all nine doubles matches as well.

“Golden Valley had good singles players,” said Hart head coach Patty Labat. “Their singles players came to play.”

Rebecca Ho, Rachel Ho and Kristine Tan accounted for Golden Valley’s singles victories.

“I’m just going to keep saying it,” said Grizzlies head coach Holly Ingersoll. “Every time we play they get better. It’s just going to take time.”

Hart’s top doubles team of Julie Lefko and Ingrid Jelderks lost only three games all afternoon, and the No. 3 doubles team of Maddie Mott and Amber Bock swept their three sets.

The Indians’ Sam Fructuoso and Karina Jones won a pair of sets 6-1 and 6-1, and Jones teamed with Shannon Cholakian to win the other set 7-6 thanks to a 7-5 tiebreaker.

Hart finished third in the Foothill League and qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Division III postseason, while Golden Valley is 2-7 in league and will face Saugus in a makeup match Monday.

“We’re excited about being in third place and moving on to (next week’s Foothill League individual) prelims,” Labat said.
