The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded stands at $4, according to the survey conducted Thursday.
The average for mid-grade is $4.11 while premium grade's average is $4.21.
Eight of the 34 local gas stations surveyed are charging more than $4 for a gallon of regular. From the 30 or so stations included in the report, the 76 station at Lyons Avenue and Newhall Avenue is charging the most - where a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.09.
The cheapest find is Cressall's Valencia Auto Spa on Valencia Boulevard, where a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.75 with the purchase of a car wash. After that, the Alliance station is selling the cheapest gas as a gallon of regular is sold for $3.87.
The $4-a-gallon price for gas comes after oil prices hit a new trading record of $135 Wednesday night before sliding down to $131 on Thursday.
With that, gas prices remain on the increase on the local and national level, leaving drivers to feel the pinch at the pump.
According to the a survey of stations by AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, the average national price of a gallon of regular gas increased to $3.83. That price is 61 cents higher than a year ago.
