I've been watching and waiting for the past decade as the William S. Hart Union High School District failed time and again to deliver on its promise to build a much-needed high school in Castaic. This Nov. 3, we have an opportunity to end the waiting by electing

Joe Messina to the Hart district governing board.
Messina is a longtime local resident, businessman and family man who has dedicated himself to making the Castaic high school a reality. He recognizes how important this project is, not just to the families and students of Castaic, but also to the other campuses throughout the district that share the burden of overcrowding and stretched resources. He has signed a pledge stating that, if elected, he will pursue the development of the highest-quality high school as quickly as possible in Castaic.

Messina is a man of his word and he is backing up that pledge with a four-point plan to bring the Castaic high school to fruition. He advocates concurrent due diligence to be done on all potential sites; the creation of a site selection process that involves representation of stakeholder groups before a final site is chosen; the setting aside of money from the voter-approved Measure SA to ensure that construction funding is available; and, the selection of a site as quickly as possible to increase our chances of securing state matching funds.

In addition, Joe has the business experience and know-how that will be needed to move the project forward. On Nov. 3, I am voting for the Hart school board candidate who has the necessary tools and the viable plan to build a Castaic high school once and for all.

Please join me in voting for Joe Messina.
