We can't do better than Joan MacGregor

I have had the opportunity and privilege to serve with and sit beside Joan MacGregor on the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees for the past 12 years. During that time, the college has grown into a major force in our community and has become one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation. Much of that can be attributed to the leadership of Chancellor Dianne Van Hook. But it is also due to the leadership of board President Joan MacGregor. She has asked the hard (and sometimes unpopular) questions that have needed to be asked. As a result, COC has maintained a healthy budget even as California's budget has faltered. The Canyon Country campus, which provides educational opportunities for the eastern part of the Santa Clarita Valley, is the result of her vision and leadership.

In a recent interview with The Signal's editorial board, MacGregor stated that she "knows school finance." What she didn't say is that she knows it better than anyone on the COC board or any of the other candidates running for it. Her opponent has stated that the COC Board of Trustees has done great things, but can do better. I can tell you from personal experience during my 12 years as a COC trustee, we can't do better than MacGregor

I hope you will join me this November in voting to re-elect Joan MacGregor to the COC Board of Trustees.
