Capelli Salon of Newhall will raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer during the Third Thursdays Art Walk event in the newly redeveloped Old Town Newhall on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sabina Fetter, owner of Capelli Salon, whose mother who is currently fighting this disease, will have several fundraising activities including a Bake Sale with home baked goodies from Main Street Treats, a mother and daughter team and new business to Main Street.

Also available are purple awareness pins all for a minimum donation of $5.

Finally, Capelli Salon will also offer Lanza Ultimate Treatments for a minimum donation of $20.

Pancreatic cancer is the most lethal cancer in the United States with a five-year survival rate of only 5 percent. This year more than 42,000 people will be diagnosed with the disease and more than 35,000 will die.

Despite the statistics, pancreatic cancer is the most under-funded among leading cancer killers with less than 2 percent of the National Cancer Institute's annual research budget figure, far too low given the severity of the disease.

Third Thursdays is a free self-guided art walk down Main Street in the Arts District of Old Town Newhall anchored by the Canyon Theatre Guild and the Repertory East Playhouse.

This once monthly Art Walk is both reactive and interactive - one can look and appreciate art, purchase art or participate in art.

Some of the businesses having alternative venues include the Canyon Theatre Guild gallery wall, Capelli Salon gallery wall, Outwest Marketing and Cookbooks Plus.

Artists will show their talents along the beautiful new sidewalks of Main Street between Market and 6th streets.
