A bicyclist suffered slight injuries Thursday morning after he rode his bike into a car in Castaic, causing minor damage to the vehicle, officials said.

A 28-year-old Castaic woman was turning left onto Lake Hughes Road from Diamond Lane when a cyclist traveling eastbound rammed into the car's front bumper and hood at about 11:38 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer John Lutz said.

The Castaic man, believed to be 25 years old, received minor to moderate injuries and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Lutz said.

The woman's 2000 Honda Accord received damage to its front right bumper, CHP Officer Michelle Esposito said.

Witnesses told officers the woman made a complete stop and looked both ways before entering the intersection, Lutz said.

Lutz said cyclists should be careful on the road.

"Cyclists need to follow the rules of the roadway just as any ... motor vehicle," he said.
