In the business of convenience

Why wait in line when someone else can do it for you?

SCV Good to Go food delivery driver Kayley Moore grabs a delivery from Fresh Works Friday morning. The service offers delivery from a wide range of local restaurants.

Rather than waiting in line to get a table at a popular restaurant, local diners can go online or pick up the phone and place an order with www.scvgoodtogo.com, a delivery service.

Courtney Wilson, owner of SCV Good to Go, aimed her business at residents, workers and hotel guests who wanted tasty meals from local favorites delivered to their doorstep.

Wilson, who started the company in October 2006, said as a full-time employer and local resident, she realized that most restaurants that had the delivery option had only pizza or Chinese food on the menu.

On top of that, SCV Good to Go would be a way for families with young kids to avoid long lines at a restaurant hot spot on a Friday or Saturday night, Wilson said.

Those interested in placing an order can either go online to www.scvgoodtogo.com or call, (661) 259-8246 to speak to a live representative. Wilson said those who place online orders will also receive a call from a Good to Go representative after the order is placed.

Currently, SCV Good to Go offers 25 restaurants to choose from, including Fresh Works, The Roasthouse, Greenhouse Cafe and Chili's.

"There is casual as well as fine dining," Wilson said.

With every order, there is a $15 minimum charge and a delivery fee, along with an automatic gratuity fee "with gas prices the way they are," Wilson said.

While Wilson would not disclose how many delivery workers the company has, she said there is a "fleet" able to handle all the incoming orders.

The average wait time for a delivery ranges, but Wilson said it typically takes between 60 to 75 minutes.

While the delivery service has many advantages, Wilson said it comes down to convenience.

"It ultimately saves you time," she said.
