A car crashed into a power pole Wednesday morning in Valencia. The pole fell, prompting authorities to close two lanes for hours, officials said.

The incident occurred at about 8:38 a.m. on The Old Road just south of Magic Mountain Parkway, said California Highway Patrol Officer George White.

The driver, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was not injured and no other vehicles were involved, White said.

The woman was driving southbound in the left lane on The Old Road when for unknown reasons she drifted to the left, White said.

After the driver abruptly turned the wheel to the right, the vehicle skidded, crossed the two right lanes, went over the curb and hit a light pole that fell and crushed the car’s hood and windshield, White said.

The driver, who was able to get out of the car, was checked by paramedics and found to be uninjured, White said.

Officials do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved and they are investigating the driver’s speed at the time of the crash, White said.
