Two lanes of The Old Road in the Valencia area are temporarily closed after a vehicle crashed into a pole this morning, causing the pole to fall and crush the top of the car, officials said.

The two right southbound lanes on The Old Road just south of Magic Mountain Parkway are expected to remain closed until about noon while Southern California Edison workers repair the concrete light pole that has at least one broken wire, said California Highway Patrol Officer George White.

The incident occurred at about 8:38 a.m. just south of Magic Mountain Parkway, White said.

The driver, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was not injured and no other vehicles were affected, White said.

The woman was driving southbound in the left lane on The Old Road when for unknown reasons she drifted to the left, White said.

After the driver abruptly turned the wheel to the right, the vehicle skid, crossed the two right lanes, went over the curb and hit a light pole that fell and crushed the car's hood and windshield, White said.

The driver, who was able to get out of the car, was checked by paramedics and found to be uninjured, White said.

Officials do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved and they are investigating the driver's speed at the time of the crash, White said.
