An ongoing lane closure on northbound Interstate 5 at Templin Highway, approximately five miles north of Castaic, may make the holiday getaway take a bit longer for some drivers this Memorial Day weekend.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) expects heavy northbound traffic on the I-5 from now through Tuesday, May 27.

The lane closure is due to storm-related slope stabilization and roadway repairs.

Three northbound lanes and all four southbound lanes remain open to motorists.

Caltrans also reminds motorists that traffic fines are doubled for infractions in freeway work zones.
