Investigators on Tuesday released composite sketches of two men who allegedly tried to abduct two children on the same day last week in apparently unrelated incidents.

The sketches released depict a man who grabbed a 15-year-old girl walking in Newhall on Oct. 12 and another who tried to kidnap an 11-year-old boy in Saugus about eight hours later, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station report.

In all, there have been at least four attempted kidnappings reported this month, all within a span of about eight days. Aside from the two involving children, two adult women were also targeted.

The suspect in the first incident, involving the teenage girl, is described as a bald Hispanic man in his 40s about 180 pounds and 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, the report said.

He was driving a four-door, white compact car with no license plates and damage to the front bumper, the report said.

The suspect pulled up in his car next to girl walking on Meadow Ridge Drive near Newhall Avenue at about 6:30 a.m. and offered her a ride, the report said.

When she refused, he allegedly got out of the car and grabbed her, but she kicked him and ran way, according to the report.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective O’Neill at (661) 799-5154.

The suspect in the second incident, involving the boy, is described as an Hispanic man 30 to 40 years old with long bangs, a mustache and goatee, the report said.

He was driving a 1990s four-door, silver sedan. The car is described as possibly a Nissan with primer paint spots on the front passenger side fender and both doors, the report said.

The male passenger who approached the boy is described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 21 years old, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, according to the report.

In the incident, the car pulled up behind the boy who was walking a few blocks away from Tesoro del Valle Elementary School at about 3 p.m., the report said.

The passenger allegedly got out of the car and ordered the boy to get in, but the boy ran away, according to the report.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Norian at (661) 799-5810.

Residents also can call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station directly at (661) 255-1121 or anonymously at (661) 284-2847.
