To enhance the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's ability to combat intellectual property crimes in the county, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $200,000 from the United States Department of Justice for the Sheriff's Department's Counterfeit and Piracy Enforcement Team Program (CAPE), according to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The funds will be used to fund teams of Community Oriented Policing Services Bureau investigators who will identify, investigate and prepare intellectual property crimes for prosecution.
