Councilwoman McLean to host Literacy Night Oct. 21

In recognition of McDonald's Family Mealtime Literacy Program and the National Center for Family Literacy, Councilwoman Marsha McLean will read a book for Literacy Night Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the McDonald's restaurant located in the Plaza at Golden Valley shopping center.

All families in attendance will receive a free dinner, provided by McDonald's, as well as books and literacy tools designed to enhance reading skills.

The reading will take place Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at McDonald's at 19401 Golden Valley Road.

The National Center for Family Literacy is joining with Southern California McDonald's restaurants to raise awareness about illiteracy in the Southland.

The McDonald's Literacy Nights are designed to enhance the foundation of literacy in individuals, including the ability to read, write and comprehend.
