Shortly after 3 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Dickason Drive, where the suspect allegedly spouted a gang name and hit the victim on the head with a bat, sheriff's Detective Tom Bryski said.
The suspect was described as a 16-year-old white boy, wearing a red bandana, red shirt and grey Dickies pants. He was reportedly last seen running toward the San Francisquito Canyon wash along Dickason Drive.
Witnesses said the suspect was a 10th grade student at Valencia High.
The minor victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, and has a two-inch laceration on his head. Deputies took a Valencia High yearbook to the hospital, hoping the boy might be able to identify the suspect, but as of 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, no suspect had been identified.
