Coroner's officials identified the 3-year-old girl who died in a crash on the Highway 14 freeway Saturday as a Monterey Park resident, authorities said.

Nathalie Moctezuma was the toddler who died in a collision on the northbound Highway 14 Saturday afternoon after the van she was in collided with another vehicle and flipped over, ejecting her from the van, said Los Angeles coroner's Lt. Fred Corral.

The child's autopsy is scheduled for today, Corral said.

Moctezuma was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Astro driven by her grandfather, Martin Borunda, when the tread on the vehicle's left tire came off, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Borunda, 46, lost control of the vehicle and the Astro collided with a Toyota Camry, a CHP report said.

Both vehicles travelled out of control toward the right shoulder of the freeway and crashed into a hillside, according to the report.

Moctezuma was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

CHP officials are investigating the use of the child's passenger restraints, the report said.
