Local mom involves teens in DVD drive for troops

As a business owner in Santa Clarita, VP of the Iraq Star Foundation and mother of four, Micaela Bensko is increasingly aware of the need for youth to contribute not only in their local communities, but also to the troops who protect them.

"I'm very excited to announce the launch of 'Operation DVD,' a drive to accumulate used DVD's from our local students and community to send to our troops overseas. It will take place during this period of time until Nov. 10 in commemoration of Veteran's Day." Bensko said.

This project does not require a purchase, and it supports environmental awareness by recycling DVD's.

On Nov. 10, the drive will culminate with local veterans speaking at Rio Norte Junior High in the Santa Clarita Valley in groups of 20 to 30 students.

The community is welcome to personally drop off DVD's on on Nov. 10 at Rio Norte between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m, or more conveniently mail them to:
