Sheriff's detectives seek help from the public in identifying and locating a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a woman in Canyon Country Oct. 11, though this incident does not appear to be related to other recent kidnap attempts in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to a report this afternoon from Lt. Brenda Cambra the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

On Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m., a 45-year-old female resident of Canyon Country was waiting for the bus at Sierra Highway and Dolan Street in Canyon Country when a man drove up in a car and stopped to talk to her, asking for directions, according to the report.

When the woman leaned in toward the car to answer his question, the man suddenly reached out with both hands and grabbed her arms in an apparent attempt to pull her into the car.

The woman yelled and began kicking the car door. Other people in the area appeared to take notice. The suspect then drove away, according to the report.

The suspect has been described as a male Hispanic, in his 30s, slight build, with black hair and a mustache. A composite sketch is posted in the adjacent slide show.

The suspect's vehicle was a 1980s, white or light beige, two-door. The front fender has black primer on the driver's side.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or the suspect depicted in the sketch is asked to immediately contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 255-1121 or Detective Christina Bryne, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Robbery and Assault Team at (661) 799-5145.
