The affected area also included portions of the Summit in Valencia, Circle J Ranch and Stevenson Ranch.

Officials at Edison stated that power was restored to more than half of the customers in the affected area within minutes of the outage, while the remaining customers were back on-line by 2:30 p.m.

Edison did not yet determine the cause of the outage, which coincided with peak temperatures in the Santa Clarita Valley. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in the Valencia and Newhall areas reached 102 degrees - Sunday's high - during the time of the power outage.
