Deputies arrested a man Wednesday who allegedly used a stolen credit card to make purchases at a Castaic gas station over the past several months, authorities said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of theft at about 12:30 p.m. after a female employee at Schwartz Oil Company helped lead deputies to him, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Robert Lewis.

The man, who does not live in the Santa Clarita Valley, reportedly visited the gas station on Henry Mayo Drive when the employee recognized and confonted him, Lewis said.

The man drove away and the woman followed him in her own vehicle while speaking to deputies on her cell phone, he said.

Deputies arrested the man on southbound Interstate 5 near McBean Parkway, Lewis said.

The man has used the cards to make more than $500 in purchases in the past several months, he said.

Lewis said the suspect's name was not released because deputies are still investigating the case.
