The Signal's new Community Sports page is attracting new leagues, teams and players, with Santa Clarita United Soccer, the Coast Soccer League, the Premier Development soccer league, AYSO Region 46, Santa Clarita Valley Youth Rugby and the Valencia Express Hockey Club signing up and building their pages.

Signal Community Sports provides a free venue for local youth and adult sports organizations to post news, game notes, photos and other team information online, where players, coaches, family members and even out-of-town relatives can keep track of their team's progress throughout the season.

The stories and photos will also appear in print soon in The Signal's Sports section.

Santa Clarita United soccer's Blue GU-12 Xtreme Team has posted notes and photos from games Oct. 3 and Oct. 11-12, and touts their first-place position in SCU's Silver North League. SCU Orange-Bronze North's CHAOS team (GU13) has posted a photo from its victory over the Bakersfield Gunners. Other SCU teams also have posted game notes and photos.

SCV Youth Rugby posted photos from last season and an invitation for players to register for the upcoming season this Sunday, Oct. 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Vincenzo's Pizza in Newhall.

The newest Signal Community Sports teams -- including AYSO Region 46, Coast Soccer, Premier Development and Valencia Express Hockey -- have just started to add content to their pages.

A new widget featuring Signal Community Sports click-through headlines has been added to The Signal Web site's home page at the-signal.com, providing additional access to the new content.
