The William S. Hart Union High School District continues its series of parent/student drug awareness seminars with a program from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Canyon High School library. The evening is part of the district's Comprehensive Alcohol and Drug Reduction and Education (CADRE) program.

Guest speaker will be Detective Tom Lorenz, who will provide information about drug use and abuse in the local community.

Participants will also receive information about the Hart district's voluntary random drug testing program, which has a goal of 1,000 students in the voluntary testing pool by the end of the year.

The first 100 participants to arrive at the Oct. 22 seminar will be eligible for a drawing for free Magic Mountain tickets, to be awarded at the end of the evening. If students and parents sign up for the CADRE random drug testing program on the night of the event, their names will be placed in a grand prize drawing for a free IPOD to be given away at the end of the school year.
