The 25th annual Home and Business Expo continues today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350.

This year, the expo expanded into a full-fledged weekend event with something for everyone, business and consumers alike, with the introduction of a job fair Saturday, a business help center, community entertainment, flu shots, and more.

Themed “Make it New, Make it Better, Make it Expo” and hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, t
he trade show features more than 140 booths where businesses owners and staff and residents can meet and talk shop, sample foods or other products, and exchange ideas and contacts.

The sagging economy has prompted a renewed focus on doing business close to home. Support for Santa Clarita Valley businesses has the added benefit of preserving the community through increased tax revenues, the Chamber noted in a news release.

* Main event: Expo provides many opportunities for consumers to connect directly with local businesses.

* Free flu shots: Medical staff courtesy of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will administer free seasonal flu shots for senior citizens, adults with longterm illnesses, and caregivers.

To receive a free flu shot, adults must meet one of the following guidelines: age 65 years or older; adults age 18 and older with a long-term health problem, weakened immune system, or muscle or nerve disorder; adults who live with or care for people at high risk for influenza-related complications.

Flu shots will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified recipients, with 300 doses available today.

* Non-Profits, Candidates Corner: The expo includes a Non-Profit Arena and a Meet the Candidates Corner today.

* Entertainment:
A variety of community entertainment headlines on the main stage today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
* Results Fitness
* Dance Studio 84
* College of the Canyons Dance
* SOS Entertainment

Sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, the annual exposition is an opportunity for Chamber members to spotlight their business and connect with local residents.
