Noltemeyer owes an apology

I have just finished reading “What an ‘uninformed and irresponsible’ column” (The Signal, Oct. 5) written by P. Michael Freeman, Los Angeles County fire chief in response to Cam Noltemeyer’s offending “Buyer beware in fire country” commentary (The Signal, Sept. 24).

All I can say is kudos to Freeman! I have lived here in Canyon Country for more than 20 years and have seen many fires. Those firemen don’t decide to protect homes that are expensive and not protect inexpensive ones.

They protect everyone.

They are the most wonderful people and it has been my privilege to get to know quite a few as they have slept on their fire trucks all night long to protect the people and homes from the devastation from fires. It sounds like Cam Noltemeyer has never lived through a fire in her area or else she would not speak this way.

She is indeed irresponsible in my eyes and I am sure others’ as well. I think Freeman and all firemen are due an apology from Cam Noltemeyer.
