Kim Acuna performs her original song "Pray for the People" at the kickoff of Castaic Days, held at Castaic Lake on Friday evening. The event runs today until 8:30 p.m.

On the cusp of a sometimes chilly fall season, today’s forecast in Castaic calls for hot air balloon rides, blazing live music and a strong chance of yummy treats.

It’s Castaic Days, a two-day lakeside celebration.

“It’s a time to come out and enjoy the lake one last time before the cold weather hits,” said Renee Sabol, Castaic Days chairwoman and president of the Castaic Days Civic Association.

Sabol expects as many as 5,000 people to stop by the outdoor festival, which brings together 50 food and arts-and-crafts vendors.

Castaic Days kicked off Friday evening and continues today from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Castaic Lake will host the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center’s Rubber Ducky Regatta fundraiser, scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods to benefit Help The Children of Santa Clarita. The Castaic Library will also be making a stop at Castaic Days.

“It really is all about helping our community,” Sabol said.

Attendees can ride hot air balloons, scale a climbing wall and tour a car show.

As the sun set Friday, families gathered on the grassy hills overlooking Castaic Lake to relax, picnic and listen to live entertainment.

“It’s a beautiful setting,” Castaic resident Sandra Bailey said. “This is really nice.”

It was her first time visiting Castaic Days with her family.

“(We) just wanted to get out of the house and do something local,” she said.
