Experience, accomplishment matter

I’m voting for Suzan Solomon for Hart District Board because I want my children and all of the children attending Hart district schools to be represented by someone who will not pussyfoot around in order to get Castaic High School built, who will effectively manage bond money, ensure transparency for all monies spent and will keep state budget cuts out of our classrooms.

Solomon is so much more than just a breath of fresh air or a nice person wanting to do a good job.

School districts throughout the state are often badly represented by well-meaning but inexperienced individuals, much to their peril.

The following are examples of Solomon’s accomplishments and experience that will directly translate to a well-managed Hart district:

n
Ten years of experience as a Newhall School Board member.

n
Managed the building of three schools (Pico Canyon, Oak Hills and McGrath) built with both bond money and developer-negotiated agreements.

n
Ensured high levels of student achievement during construction, modernization and this fiscal crisis.

n
Managed modernization of existing schools.

n
Managed bond monies ensuring effective utilization and transparency to the community.

n
Maintained a fiscally sound budget that supported all programs, enabled the district to sustain its teaching staff and build a reserve fund.

n
Actively listened to the community and visited schools regularly.

n
Worked with city, county, state and federal officials on local and legislative issues that affected all of Santa Clarita Valley schools (in fact, Solomon has been endorsed by both Jack O’Connell, State Superintendent of Public Instruction and Michael Antonovich, Supervisor, 5th District, L.A. County).

n
Provided top-notch leadership in roles ranging from SCV Council (valley-wide) PTA president, 34th District PTA president, State PTA legislative chair, and many others.

I have had the great privilege of working with Solomon on projects where my children and my friends’ children have directly benefitted.

Solomon is driven by her desire to provide students with a quality and relevant education and her experience qualifies her to do just that.
Vote with me for Solomon on Nov. 3. Experience and accomplishment really do matter.
