The city of Santa Clarita, along with the county, is hosting the annual Pet Vaccination Clinic Saturday morning at Santa Clarita Park.

Low-cost vaccinations, license renewal and micro-chipping services will be available for dogs. Vaccinations include a $6 Rabies vaccine, the $14 six-in-one Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza and Parvovius, and the $11 Bordetella vaccine. Rabies vaccinations are required by state law for all dogs at least four months of age.

Pet micro-chipping will be offered free of charge. Proof of spay or neuter is required for license renewal or to receive an initial license, so officials recommend bringing your pet's Certificate of Sterility. Prices to purchase licenses are as follows: "spayed or neutered dog" is $20, and an "unaltered dog" is $60. To qualify for the "unaltered" license fee you must fill out and have Exemption Application. A discount offered to senior citizens, allowing them to obtain a license for their dogs for $7.50. Most dog licenses expire by June 30 and if not renewed by this date, a penalty fee may incur.

Dogs must be on appropriate leashes with adequate collars to receive a vaccination or a license. Both cash and check will be accepted. If you are paying by check, please bring a separate check for each licensing and vaccination service.

The park is located at 27285 Seco Canyon Avenue. The clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, contact Jon Bischetsreider at the city of Santa Clarita, at (661) 286-4184.
