Eighteen classified employees from across the district will be recognized by the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District at the Oct. 7 meeting of the Governing Board. The honorees were selected by their colleagues at each site and will also be honored at a recognition luncheon later this month at Robinson Ranch.

Honorees include Kurt Bradbury, Academy of the Canyons/Learning Post and Rancho Pico Junior High; Margaret Cardenas, Administrative Center; Jesus Hernandez, Arroyo Seco Junior High; Jeanette Brockmeyer, Bowman High; Kathy Rehder, Canyon High; Dede Bradford, Career Visions Center; Donna Nagler, Golden Oak Adult School; Tom Cowan, Golden Valley High; Irma Vidal, Hart High; Jan Lynch, La Mesa Junior High; Helio Gudino, Placerita Junior High; Patrick Kelley, Rio Norte Junior High; Jill Coughlin, Saugus High; Bonnie Hoder, Sequoia Learning Charter; Laura Schmidt, Sierra Vista Junior High; Maria Palaikis, Valencia High; and Martha Hernandez, West Ranch High.

Classified staff members are non-credentialed employees who provide everyday support to the district's students, teachers and administrators. They include secretaries and clerical staff, maintenance and custodial staff, computer technicians, campus supervisors, instructional assistants and more.

"These honorees were selected by their school or department for their outstanding service, hard work and commitment to the community, students and staff of our district," explained Terri Shiner, director of classified personnel. "Through their invaluable contributions and specialized services, they provide instructional, technical, and administrative support, as well as a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn."

Framed portraits of this year's Classified Employee of the Year honorees will be on display in the district administrative center for the year.
