West Ranch Hosts Marching Competition
Marching bands and color guards from all Hart District high schools and others across Southern California will strut their stuff Saturday, Oct. 10, at the first marching band competition sponsored by the West Ranch High School Marching Band and Color Guard.

The event is sanctioned by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association and will be held in the Valencia High School Stadium. The day-long program is open to the public, and admission fees will help support the West Ranch Music Department.

Food Creates Appetite for Math
Arroyo Seco Junior High math teacher Jon Nez had his seventh grade class don In-n-Out hats to do Menu Math. The lesson engaged the students in the ordering process and how to use variables, assigning like terms and using the distributive property to calculate prices for food orders.

It's funny how relating math to food can get the attention of students like nothing else!
