Packed bus solution

In regards to "Kids ‘packed like sardines'" (The Signal, Sept. 25): I am familiar with the congestion on the school buses Tammy Marashlian so aptly describes.

I went through this same struggle several years ago when my son attended Valencia High School. The bus was far too crowded and consequently unsafe.

Couple these conditions with the rowdiness often associated with students of that age who ride buses and you have a potentially volatile situation.

I would like to offer a suggestion.

The city of Santa Clarita offers commuter express service for travel to Los Angeles, Warner Center, Van Nuys, Century City and the Antelope Valley.

I have used the Los Angeles bus in the past and it is a wonderful means to travel downtown and back.

However, I have also noticed that several of the buses on some of the other routes are running at very low occupancy at times.

Why can't some of these buses be used for the students in the Santa Clarita Valley?

If there is a logical reason why this won't work, I would be most interested in hearing it.
