Of the people, by the people, for the people

My husband and I went to Congressman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon's town hall meeting on health care. What a great turnout.

The concerns of the citizenry were heard, to be taken back to Washington, D.C.

Of the people, by the people, for the people.

We are excited to see American citizens exercising their power through civic-mindedness.

I thought that meant volunteering, as in schools, coaching sports, churches, community, etc. It doesn't.

Civics is our constitutional right and obligation concerning any government body or board to learn about, challenge, elect and if necessary change through petition, issues or persons the citizens don't see as being in their interests.

Of the people, by the people, for the people.

Call your local school district, city hall, water board, wherever your care and concerns lead, and find out when the board meetings are, what is on their agenda, and let your civic-mindedness continue at the very important local level so we have local city and schools government that's of the people, by the people, for the people - as the founders of our blessed and glorious nation sought for us all.
