The city of Santa Clarita will begin its Roadway Asphalt Rehabilitation Project on Monday, Oct. 5 along Soledad Canyon Road between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road. Construction is expected to last through Nov. 2009.

To minimize noise disruptions to the residential neighborhoods along the affected stretch of Soledad Canyon Road, construction will be performed during weekday daytime hours. Construction time will be limited to avoid peak travel periods in each direction of the roadway. However, drivers should anticipate traffic delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

"The Roadway and Asphalt Rehabilitation Project will provide for a smoother ride for traffic and extend the life of one of Santa Clarita's most frequently traveled local roadways," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "Thanks to funds received through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, these improvements can be made to our local roadways at no cost to the city."

Bike lanes along the affected roadway will also be closed during construction. Pedestrian access along sidewalks on each side of the road will remain open and not be impacted.
