McFarland needs to stop

On Aug. 24, Bruce McFarland wrote an opinion column ("Are you a nut job?") in The Signal that labelled me and millions of his fellow Americans "nut jobs."

This is not the first time McFarland has shamelessly berated other citizens of this country and if something is not done to impede him, I believe it may not be the last.

I am ashamed to live in a valley where the local newspaper puts such hateful words on its pages.

The column cited that people who believe that George W. Bush was even a good President are mentally impaired when compared to the rest of us.

Well, McFarland and all on The Signal staff, I would like to inform you, for the first time, that many people, including myself, are tired of being bashed for their political beliefs in a public newspaper.

Whenever I read a similar offensive column by McFarland, my mind goes into three successive stages: insult, laughter and grief.

During the insult phase, I am tempted to start screaming offensive words.

Then for the laughter phase, I begin to laugh my head off over the fact that there are people who actually agree with him. And during the grief phase, I cry because in my heart ,I have slandered someone in revenge and for the people he is misleading.

McFarland, I do not want this to be portrayed as a personal attack against you.

As a columnist, you are very adamant about your opinions and the feelings they stir up in me bring up a desire to use every weapon in my verbal arsenal to attack you.

In the past, such as in a column where you declared that Americans who don't agree with you should move to another country (e.g. Texas), you have responded to criticism in a way that seems to say, "Well, I didn't exactly mean it, but I really did."

However, I will give you props for this: I will firmly agree with you that anyone who says my president isn't a natural-born citizen is probably a nut job.
