Respect the president

I have become increasingly alarmed and angry with the level of disrespect I see toward our President.

It is one thing to disagree with the president's ideas or policies, but it is quite another to show such disrespect and hatred.

Like him or not, President Obama is our elected president and as such deserves to be shown the respect the office brings with it.

I did not like much of what President Bush did while he was in the White House, but he was our president and as such deserved our respect and loyalty.

I get very angry and stop listening to or reading articles that refuse to refer to President Obama as president.

He is not Mr. Obama, he is President Obama and should always be referred to as such.

I was listening to one news report recently and the journalist referred to Mr. Obama and in the very next sentence referred to President Bush. What the heck is that?!

I am happy to refer to past presidents as president; they deserve the title for having held our highest office.

However, the current president certainly deserves the same respect. After all, he was elected and is our sitting president.

Joe Wilson and so many people at the summer town hall meetings and at these tea party rallies have shown a level of incivility that is really alarming.

It is time to start acting like adults and put the interests of our country first.

In the past Congress worked together to get things done for our nation. Now it seems they only want to destroy the other side no matter how it affects the people of America.

Showing respect for the president of the United States is a good place to start in putting civility back into our political world.
