Comedian Paul Ogata is shown with his rescued dogs, Nyla and Coffee Bean.

Comedian Paul Ogata, winner of the 2007 San Francisco International Comedy Competition, will headline "Comedy for Canines," a fundraiser to benefit The Brittany Foundation, at Valencia's JR's Comedy Club on Friday, Oct. 2.

As the proud father of rescued dogs Coffee Bean and Nala, Ogata is happy to help out the no-kill dog sanctuary in Agua Dulce. "Dogs can bring immeasurable joy into a good home. If I can help get these homeless dogs into dogless homes, then everybody wins," he said.

Tickets for "Comedy for Canines" are $20 with a two item food or drink minimum. The show starts at 9 p.m. (Dinner is also available at 7:30 p.m. for an additional $12 to $14. JR's is located in the lounge of Marie Callender's).

A silent auction and raffle will feature prizes, while men's and women's Brittany Foundation T-shirts will also be on sale for just $20.
Proceeds will help with expenses at The Brittany Foundation, which has experienced a dramatic decline in donations since the recession started.

"Everyone's suffering right now, but it's been especially hard on dogs, which are being surrendered to shelters in record numbers. We are doing our best to continue to save lives under these terrible economic conditions and really appreciate Paul's help," said Brittany Foundation founder Nancy Anderson. "So, we hope all you dog lovers out there will come and support the show. I'm sure we can all use a laugh right about now."
