For the second time in less than a month, an employee with the William S. Hart Union High School District has been put on administrative leave for alleged inappropriate contact with a student.

In a news release issued by district spokeswoman Pat Willett, the district says it is "currently investigating allegations of inappropriate contact between an employee and a student. The staff member has been placed on administrative leave pending results of the investigation."

Willett, reached by phone Monday, said she could neither confirm nor deny reports that the employee being investigated works for Canyon High School.

"We aren't releasing any information as to the site, to level of the employee or the name of the staff," she said.

On Friday, the district reported that a person already under investigation for a similar allegation had resigned from the district, effective at the end of the year.

Based on conversations with people close to the case, The Signal reported last week that the employee was a female high school counselor who had had a sexual relationship with an underage male student.

"The district will have no further comment on the issue, which is still subject to an ongoing sheriff's investigation," a news release stated.

"The Hart district takes such allegations very seriously and will vigorously pursue its investigation in order to protect the safety of students in our schools, while protecting the privacy of any students or employees who may be involved."
