Brian Charles, I must write to let you know how moved I am by your first-person piece on 9/11 ("Losing their lives for making a living"). You allowed me to feel as though I was right there with you, feeling the emotions together. What a tragic day.

My husband and I went to New York two years ago for the first time. As we walked through the streets toward the site of where the towers had been, I had to choke back my tears.

Even though people coming towards me weren't running and screaming and their clothes weren't covered in dust, I saw the "ghostly looking figures" and I heard screams and felt the terror.

As horrible as it was to watch the unimaginable event on television, being so far away and thankful for that, stepping in the steps of those who had run in terror made it very real.

Every American should visit New York City, visit the World Trade Center site, walk in the streets of terror. We must never forget. I will never forget.

Thank you for sharing your own experience. I will also remember you on the 9/11 anniversaries.
