"Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of The Baskervilles" opens at the Repertory East Playhouse in Newhall tonight for a run through Oct. 17.

The Repertory East Playhouse will return to its Main Stage Season tonight, Friday, Sept. 18, at 8 p.m., with "Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles," adapted by F. Andrew Leslie, from the novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Perhaps the most famous and popular of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, this gripping tale deals with the curse of the Baskerville family - and the fiendish killer-hound that stalks its members.

As the action begins Sir Charles Baskerville has died under mysterious circumstances, and his nephew and heir, the young Sir Henry, has been threatened even before his arrival at Baskerville Hall. Enlisting the aid of Sherlock Holmes he sets out for his ancestral home on the Devon moor in the company of Dr. Watson, Holmes' trusted colleague, a journey which brings him to danger, mystery and a series of events which build steadily in menace and suspense.

The play stars Michael Levine in the role of Sherlock Holmes, with a supporting cast that includes REP newcomers Carolyn Morse, Jamie Callahan, Kyle Kulish, Todd Larsen and Alysan Marie, along with favorites Amber Van Loon, Donna Marie Sergi and Janice and BD Christensen.

"Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles" will run through Oct. 17. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. For tickets, purchase online at www.repeastplayhouse.org or call (661) 288-0000. The REP is located at 24266 Main St., Newhall, CA 91321.

The REP will host post show discussions immediately following each Sunday performance. Join the cast and crew for an intimate discussion about the process of creating live theatre.
