Sierra Vista Junior High School “CIVICS” community service club members, left to right, Marisela Glasgow, 12, parent volunteer Brian MacDonald, Bernadette Mercer, 12, and Emily MacDonald represented one of the dozens of community organizations at Santa Clarita’s 15th Annual River Rally on Saturday. More than 1,000 volunteers scoured the Santa Clara river bed collecting non-indigenous refuse. Six-year-old Nathaniel Valdes, walks past flags at the Newhall Veterans Memorial Park. He and other local kids helped place 2, 974 placed in the ground to represent each person who lost their lives in the 2001 September 11 attacks.
