California astronaut to fly on next space shuttle mission

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Randy Bresnik, from Santa Monica, Calif., will make his first journey into orbit on space shuttle Atlantis' next mission to the International Space Station.

The STS-129 flight is targeted to launch at 4:10 p.m. EST on Nov. 12 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Mission Specialist Bresnik will conduct two spacewalks during the 11-day flight to deliver spare parts platforms. They will be installed to the space station's exterior to sustain station operations after the shuttle is retired.
