The state has released the Academic Performance Index (API) figures for this year.

The Academic Performance Index measures the academic growth of public school students by using standardized tests. Scores range from 200 to 1,000.

Parents and students can click here to find out how local schools and school districts performed.

Families can also use the link to look up their school's Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), which evaluates schools' progress toward meeting the No Child Left Behind goal that 100 percent of students score proficient or better in English-language arts and math by 2014.

See Wednesday's edition of The Signal for full coverage on how Santa Clarita Valley's school districts performed.
