Medical liability reform

To have real reform to our health care system, we need to make reforming the system of medical liability a priority.

We need to encourage a speedy resolution of claims, compensate patient injury at appropriate levels, maximize patient recovery and reduce award for pain and suffering.

I feel we should have more uniform laws between the states so insurance can be purchased from a company in another state at a lower cost.

Republicans have offered dozens of solid, constructive amendments like those above to this Democratic health care bill as it has gone through the three House Committees. Democrats have overwhelmingly voted them all down.

I'm beginning to feel that the Democrats aren't interested in these types of reforms because it is in their best interest to protect the heavy campaign donations from trial lawyers who are reaping large judgements at the expense of medical professionals and forcing our good doctors out of their practices through higher insurance premiums.

And they wonder why the price of health care is rising.
