Some of our presidential hopefuls have been promising a cut of the federal gas tax for the summer driving season. Others have said if that happens, the roads, potholes and rusty bridges would not be repaired. Plus the price would go up.

If I have the right information, the gas tax has been collected for years and years with very little being done to repair anything. In fact, California is thinking of creating a toll freeway.

What part of "free"-way don't they understand? The main problem is the gas tax has been plowed into the general fund for so long it's now considered part of the general fund.

Think earmarks! If I remember correctly, Pat Paulson said he would not run, and if elected he would not serve. We need somebody like that in office now. Or maybe that's what we do have!
