A downed power line sparked a small brush fire in the Newhall Pass on the northbound side just north of the Interstate 5-Highway 14 split at about 9:41, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Los Angeles County firefighters were on the scene about 10:15, and requested traffic be blocked until firefighters could secure the #4 lane, according to the CHP.

All lanes were reopened at 10:39 p.m., the CHP reported.

The CHP also reported a witness had seen lightning strike a power pole, which caught on fire and started burning brush on an adjacent hillside.
