Heaven won't stop him

Not long ago I read Senator Kennedy's book, "America Back on Track." I knew then how amazing he truly was. How lucky we have been as a people to have had him fighting every step of the way. He truly was a king among men. We would not be where we are today if it were not for him.

As a mother of six, grandmother of three, I am able to speak out and get active because of his life's work. If it weren't for him and the legacy he left, I would never have known this reality. My heart truly aches, as I know we have lost an angel here on Earth.

The amazing thing was he knew he was leaving this place; he knew he had to pass the torch. He saw that special spark of goodness and courage, so needed to continue the fight. He saw it in Barack Obama. I am so grateful Kennedy loved this country enough to fight through his adversities, to make sure the dream would carry on.

Even though he did not live to see the health care reform enacted, he did see Barack Obama become president of the United States. He knew all his hard work, the sacrifice of his brothers, all the prices that had been paid, that the dream would be fulfilled through Obama. I know health care reform will come to fruition and I believe Senator Kennedy knew that, too.

Heaven won't stop him. It will only empower him to reach out in ways otherwise impossible. There are no more boundaries, only possibilities. We now have someone whispering in God's ear. My sympathies to his family and all who loved him, me included, as I know the pain is great.

Remember: No greater gift a man could have received than the chance to continue, the chance to fulfill a dream.

We'll see you on the other side, Sir. Till then, sleep well, sweet prince, as I bid you adieu.
